Notes
Fresh lime juice makes a noticeable difference here and keeps the drink bright and balanced. Bottled juice will change the flavor.
This recipe makes three drinks, with each cocktail landing around 6 fluid ounces once the Grand Marnier float is added. It’s easy to scale up for a pitcher—just hold off on adding the Grand Marnier until you pour each glass so you keep that classic Cadillac-style finish.
If you prefer a less sweet margarita, reduce the simple syrup slightly and adjust to taste after shaking.
Use a good-quality tequila blanco since it’s the base of the drink and really comes through in the final flavor.
Pour the Grand Marnier slowly over the back of a spoon to help it float cleanly on top.
