Description

This Creamy Avocado Cilantro Lime Sauce is bright, smooth, and loaded with fresh flavor. Ripe avocado, cilantro, lime, garlic, and a touch of honey blend into a creamy sauce that works as a spread, dip, drizzle, or finishing touch for tacos, grilled chicken, burgers, bowls, wraps, and vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt

1/2 avocado

1/2 cup loosely packed cilantro

Juice of 1 lime (about 2 tablespoons)

1 teaspoon lime zest

1 small garlic clove

1 teaspoon honey

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

2 to 4 tablespoons olive oil or water as needed for consistency

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a food processor.
  2. Pulse several times to break everything down.
  3. Blend until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.
  4. Add olive oil or water a little at a time until the crema reaches your desired consistency.
  5. Taste and adjust salt or lime as needed.
  6. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

Use a ripe avocado that gives slightly when gently pressed.

Start with 2 tablespoons of olive oil or water, then add more if needed.

Fresh lime juice and zest give the sauce its best flavor.

Taste before serving and adjust with more salt or lime juice if needed.

This creamy Avocado Cilantro Lime Sauce is thick enough to spread, smooth enough to drizzle, and the perfect finishing touch for tacos, grilled chicken, burgers, bowls, and more.
